HEART AND THE CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM

THE CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM

The cardiovascular sysstem is also known as the circulatory system. There are two blood circulatory systems in the body.

The pulmonary circulatory system which moves blood between the heart and lungs. It is where oxygen enters the blood and carbon dioxide leaves the blood.

Then the  systemic circulatory system which is the main blood circulatory system that transports blood to the organs, tissues, and cells throughout the body

The cardiovascular system consists of the heart and the blood vessels

                THE HEART                                                         THE BLOOD VESSELS

The heart is a muscular pump that forces blood around the body while the blood vessels are pipe like channels that move blood from your heart, round your body and back to your heart in a loop as shown above. The body contains over 60,000 miles of blood vessels.

There are three types of blood vessels; the VEINS which move blood from the heart to other parts of your body, the ARTERIES which moves blood back to the heart and the CAPILLARIES which are small vessels that connects the arteries to the veins.

Normally the blood vessels are clean and clear. But as you get older and begin to eat, your blood pick up a lot of things including nutrients, air and sometimes, toxins.

Three things may be happening in your body that is making your blood pressure to always be high.

1.    CLOGGED BLOOD VESSELS: High cholesterol, blood clots and calcium from your food can build up, forming plaque on the walls of your arteries and veins. This reduces the size of the area in your blood vessel where the blood flows and this in turn, results to the heart pumping harder to push blood round your body.

2.    THICK BLOOD: The normal viscosity of blood ranges from 2.4 to 4.1 (water is 1), This is because the viscosity of blood varies at different parts of your body. Viscosity is the measure of how thick and sticky the blood is. When there is high concentration of bad cholesterol in the blood, it can lead to a thicker blood and this in turn will lead to the heart working harder to ensure that blood is pumped round your body. Thick blood can also be caused by a number of other factors, including too many red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets, an imbalance in the protein and cells responsible for blood clotting, certain diseases such as lupus, cancer and/or foods and drugs

3.    SHRINKING BLOOD VESSELS: Have you heard about vasodilation?
Vasodilation is the widening of your blood vessels due to the relaxation of the blood vessel's muscular walls. It is a mechanism to enhance blood flow to areas of the body lacking oxygen or nutrients and causes a decrease in systemic vascular resistance (SVR) and an increase in blood flow. On the other hand, Vasoconstriction is the opposite of Vasodilation and it is the shrinking of blood vessels. Cold, Stress, Cigarette smoking, some medication or even an underlying medical condition could cause the blood vessels to shrink

Irrespective of what is happening, be it clogged blood vessel, shrinked blood vessels or thick blood, the heart would always do its best to ensure that all the parts of your body receives adequate blood, nutrient and oxygen even if it means working harder

BLOOD PRESSURE EXPLAINED

Blood pressure is the force of blood on the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps blood around your body. It is important to note that blood pressure does not stay the same at all  times. It changes to meet your body’s needs and it is normal for your blood pressure to go up and down throughout the day. Factors such as your body position, breathing, emotional state, exercise and sleep can affect your blood pressure. But if your blood pressure remains high over a long period of time, it can lead to a heart attack, stroke, heart failure or even kidney disease.

Blood pressure is recorded as two numbers. The larger number which is also at the top is the pressure in the arteries as your heart pumps out blood during each beat. This is called the systolic blood pressure whereas the lower number is the pressure as your heart relaxes before the next beat. It is called the diastolic blood pressure. The normal blood pressure is expected to be 120/80 mm HG

THERE IS MORE

Recall that the blood vessel that carries blood from your heart to the parts of your body is called the arteries. When these arteries are clogged by plaques as in (1) above, it can lead to condition known as atherosclerosis, but if the plague caused thickening and stiffness of the arteries, it leads to a condition known as arteriosclerosis.

Atherosclerosis develops slowly as cholesterol, fat, blood cells, and other substances in your blood form plaque in the walls of arteries. As plaque builds up, your arteries narrow reducing the supply of oxygen-rich blood to tissues and organs in the body. A decrease in blood flow can lead to symptoms like angina and if a plaque bursts, blood clots may form and block the artery or travel to other parts of the body.

Atherosclerosis can affect almost any artery in the body, including ones in the heart, brain, arms, legs, pelvis, and kidneys. Atherosclerosis has a different name depending on the arteries that are affected:

Carotid artery disease is plaque buildup in the neck arteries. It reduces blood flow to the brain.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is plaque buildup in the arteries of your heart.

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) most often is plaque buildup in the arteries of the legs, but it can also build up in your arms or pelvis.

Renal artery stenosis is plaque buildup in the arteries that supply blood to your kidneys.

Vertebral artery disease is atherosclerosis in the arteries that supply blood to the back of the brain. This area of the brain controls body functions that are needed to keep you alive.

Mesenteric artery  ischemia is plaque buildup in the arteries that supply blood to the intestines

COMMON MISTAKES THAT CAN AFFECT YOUR SLEEP AND CAUSE INSOMNIA

The bedroom represents intimacy, romance, privacy. For you to have a good sleep, you need to feel that sense of security and well-being.

Bed placement can have a large impact on your quality of sleep, as well as your overall health.

Let me start with sharing with you, some mistakes people make while arranging their bedroom that can negatively impact your sleep

1. Sleeping directly under a window: "Some people think that sleeping directly under the window is good for air circulation; however, it can lead to a feeling of vulnerability. It is best to have a solid wall behind you where you sleep.

2. Sleeping under beams:

Beams break the flow of energy and can disrupt sleep, or even lead to health issues. To overcome this issue, it is recommended that you put a piece of fabric over the beam to stop the feeling of pressure.

3. Hanging a mirror directly across from the bed: Mirrors are seen as energy bouncers. Mirrors creat unbalanced energy, causing restlessness and worry as you sleep.

4. The headboard should be off the bed: You want the head of your bed against the wall because you want that support. A headboard can represent the connection between partners and ideally you want to have a headboard that's solid without perforations.

Therefore, to ensure a good night rest, you will need to have good flow of positive energy while you sleep.

Here are some things you may need to consider, especially when it comes to positioning your bed and your general bedroom arrangement

Placing your bed in "The commanding position":

Move your bed in a position where you can see the door while laying in bed (so that you're "in command" of the room). You don't want to be directly in line with the door, but more diagonal or in a kitty corner from the door. "You want to be able to see opportunities coming to you. You want to move through life with your eyes open rather than your eyes shut and then physiologically when you're sleeping.

2. Keep under your bed clear. Clutter under the bed can hinder energy from flowing around you as you rest. If you absolutely have to keep something underneath, then your pillows, blankets or other sleep-related items are ideal. Letters from an ex, divorce papers or anything that's emotionally charged will only make you susceptible to negative energy.

3. Declutter your space: Clearing clutter from a room can be beneficial to your mental health. Think calm thoughts, happier emotions and the feeling of more control over your area and life. You don't want anything that will lead to stuck energy in your surroundings.

4. Add blackout window coverings: Too much light can impact deep sleep. When it comes to the bedroom, warm-colored lighting combined with dim lights may enhance the feel of the space.

5. Ensure Good Air Flow: This will support sound sleep. You can do this by keeping the front door clean or displaying your favorite piece of artwork or furniture by the entrance.

6. Aim for symmetry: For a classic and balanced layout, center your bed on the wall with bedside tables and lamps on both sides. "It represents a stable, harmonious relationship — either an existing relationship, or one that will come in the near future.

7. Consider a Canopy bed:

Canopy beds have been around forever and they create a cocoon-like sleeping alcove which feels deeply restful. The fabric draped between the beams and the bed protects you as you sleep."

Summary:

Everyone wants to have a good night rest. After the hassles and bustles of the day, you'd love to retire to a comforting space. Besides, having a good night rest can have very positive impact on your general well being. Making your bedroom as comfortable as possible is very necessary.

If you find it difficult to sleep properly at night, why dont you try re-arranging your space

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE - WHAT YOU WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO FIND OUT ABOUT YOUR MEDICATION

Aloe there Friend, It's good to have you back. here.

What I'm about to share with you right now, though not a secret, but you were not supposed to find out. But because I have your interest at heart, I am obliged to share them with you.

If you have ever been diagnosed of High Blood Pressure, then you would know that your blood pressure refers to the force that the blood exerts against the walls of your artery as it passes through them.  As long as this pressure is at a normal level, your arteries will remain healthy/undamaged.

However just as overfilling a tire or a garden hose can eventually cause damage, so too can increased blood pressure through arteries over an extended period of time.  Eventually, the arteries can become damaged and narrowed, making it more difficult for blood to flow properly.  Such arterial damage can lead to a number of health problems, including stroke, kidney failure, and heart complications.

Blood pressure is assessed using two parameters -- the systolic and diastolic pressures --

Systolic Pressure measure, the maximum pressure exerted in the arteries as the heart contracts

Diastolic Pressure measures the  minimum pressure in those vessels between cardiac contractions.

In adults, blood pressure is considered normal if the top number (systolic pressure) is between 90 and 120 and the bottom number (diastolic) is between 60 and 80

When you are diagnosed with this condition, your MD will prescribe some drugs which you are required to take over a long period while you're monitored.

The good news is that your blood pressure can normalize within some period (if diagnosed early enough) while the bad news is that if it doesn't, you might begin to experience complications due to the effect of the medications you're being administered

A systemic cleansing and detox is definitely the way to go after each holiday. It is the key to fighting high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, and other health-related illnesses - Lee Haney

Forever Ivision

Complete eye support for the digital age

• Supports healthy vision

• Helps filter blue light from digital devices

• Supports visual processing speed

• Enhances glare recovery time

• Provides all three needed carotenoids specific to inner eye health

• Gluten Free

In today’s digital age, our eyes work harder than ever before. We count on them to filter out UV rays and pollution, but also subject our eyes to hours of artificial blue light coming from mobile devices, computers and televisions every day. Taking care of our eyes is more important than ever to protect from eye strain and long-term damage. And while proper nutrition is the first line of defense, most diets fall far short of the recommended levels of eye-promoting nutrients and antioxidants.

Introducing Forever iVision™, a breakthrough supplement designed to make it easier than ever to nourish and help protect your eyes. Formulated with vitamins, antioxidant power, botanicals and scientifically-advanced ingredients, Forever iVision™ provides complete, modern day eye support.

Bilberry extract delivers antioxidant compounds that play an important role in eye health. We also included beta carotene in the form of natural vitamin A, a nutrient found in carrots and other foods that supports eye health and vision. Forever boosted its power with the addition of zinc, which makes vitamin A more bioavailable and helps to maintain healthy vision.

If there’s one ingredient that truly makes iVision™ the future of eye supplements, it’s clinically-studied Lutemax® 2020. This powerful ingredient takes eye support to a whole new level by helping to filter out blue light from digital devices and other artificial light sources like LED and compact fluorescent bulbs. Lutemax® 2020 also provides support to the retina and inner eye, particularly the macula, which provides the clearest, most distinctive vision and manages the way your eyes process colors.

Maintaining macular health requires specific nutrients called carotenoids but most eye supplements supply only one of three carotenoids needed –lutein. Today’s digital lifestyle requires more than just lutein to promote optimal eye health. That’s why Forever iVision™ with Lutemax® 2020 features all three necessary carotenoids: lutein, RR zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin.

With today’s modern challenges, eye supplements are not only for adults looking to protect their eyes from age-related macular degeneration. Teens and adults of all ages can benefit from Forever iVision™ to support visual processing speed and help replenish macular pigment, enhance glare recovery time and fight exposure to blue light. With the advanced ingredients supplied by Forever iVision™ with Lutemax® 2020, you’ll see clearly why this is the perfect supplement for the digital age.

DONT IGNORE THESE SIGNS

 DONT INGNORE THESE SIGNS

The body is a machine with many parts working simultaneously. Just like every machine, when one of its parts is not working properly, it affects the total output of the machine - in this case our body.  But, sometimes, the body can give us some signs that something is not working properly. Don’t ignore these signs, and ask for a professional help.

Here are 7 signs that indicate health problems and that your body needs help.

Fragile Nails and Hair

If your nails and hair are fragile, it can be a sign of Vitamin B deficiency. To make your hair and nails strong again, you just need to drink more milk and eat some nori seaweeds and mushrooms

Rings that appear around the Irises

If you are over 50, don’t worry, as the appearance of these rings are quite usual. But, if you are younger, the rings around the irises can be a sign for high cholesterol levels.

Bleeding Gums

If your gums start to bleed every time you brush your teeth, it means that you are deficient in vitamin C. Just try to consume more citrus fruits, spinach, green and red bell peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli. All these foods are great source of vitamin C.

Dry skin

If you suffer from dry skin, it might be a sign of vitamin E deficiency. To return the moisture to your skin, it is important to eat more oils, vegetables, nuts and fish.

Sudden cravings for SWEET

If you suddenly crave something sweet, it means you are stressed, exhausted or depressed. Thus, the body is asking for glucose. If you want to avoid gaining weight, you should have some dark chocolate or honey instead of cakes and sweets.

Desire to eat ICE

If you feel like you want to eat ice, then it might mean that you have anemia, or iron deficiency. Instead of eating ice, try to consume more beef, eggs, and molluscs. Nevertheless, it is still better to consult a doctor if you are feeling like eating ice and you lack energy.

Insomnia

If you are experiencing insomnia more often, it might be a sign your body needs magnesium and potassium. Consume more tomatoes, oranges, bananas and spinach to give your body these essential.

Effective Ways to Improve Your Digestion

Effective Ways to Improve Your Digestion

We all know that digestion is where the body breaks down food into other substances which are then either absorbed into the bloodstream or distributed around the body. Often, we don’t think about how important this process is for our body, but without it we wouldn’t get any benefits at all from eating food, and although it may be easy to figure out when your digestive system is not functioning properly, when it does happen, how can you work to improve it?
Your overall health is important
If you have unhealthy habits, how can you expect your gut to be healthy? The NHS recommends you do 150 minutes of physical activity per week. This works out to about 30 minutes, five days a week. They also recommend that you break up long periods of sitting with some light activity. Exercise can help your body avoid constipation, as it helps food to move through your digestive system. So, perhaps the next time your lunch break rolls around, instead of eating al-desk-o, why not take a quick stroll in the great outdoors?
The human body is made up of around 60% water. Our bodies can’t function properly without adequate water, so it’s really important to make sure you drink enough fluids throughout the day. The NHS recommends we drink around six to eight glasses of water a day and this liquid encourages the passage of waste through your digestive system. If you don’t drink enough water, the fibre in your lower intestine can’t do its job. This can eventually lead to constipation. An easy way to start incorporating more water into your daily routine is to begin drinking a glass of water with every meal.
Eat a high fibre diet
If you feel like you don’t eat enough fibre, you are not alone. Most adults only get around 18g of fibre a day, which is well-below the NHS’ recommended daily intake of 30g. Introducing more fibre into your diet can help to improve your digestion. It helps to prevent constipation by bulking up and softening stools in the large intestine and moving them along the digestive tract quicker.
Wholemeal bread, brown rice, fruits and vegetables, beans and oats are all fibre-rich foods. However, it’s worth noting that grains and cereals can cause bloating and an irritable bowel in some people. If this is the case for you, then it’s best to just get your fibre intake from fruits and vegetables.
Incorporate some friendly bacteria into your diet
We’re often led to believe, especially by germ-busting cleaning sprays on television, that all bacteria are bad for us. This is absolutely not the case. Your gut is full of friendly bacteria which keep it healthy and working properly. Stress, bad diet and lack of exercise can all affect these friendly bacteria and contribute to an unhealthy digestive tract. Whether your gut is perfectly healthy or not, it makes sense to complement your natural gut flora with more friendly bacteria.
Friendly bacteria can be found in certain yoghurts or cheeses, as well as our Forever Active Pro-BForever Active Pro-B contains six strains of bacteria that have been specifically selected for their ability to bypass stomach acid for optimal delivery into the intestines. Friendly bacteria can be vulnerable to the environment, but we use cryo-technology to ensure that our bacteria strains stay dormant until they reach your gut. This means that they can focus on the job at hand: restoring the natural balance of bacteria in your gut.
Avoid foods that can slow down the digestive process
Some foods can be bad for your digestion. A common example of this is spicy foods. As well as the usual culprits, this can also include foods like onion and garlic. Although some people can handle these foods perfectly well, others may find they cause heartburn, diarrhoea and stomach pain. Fatty foods can produce similar symptoms, and this is likely due to the fact that the stomach finds them harder to digest. In this case, it’s best to cut back your intake of these foods or avoid them altogether.
If you do find you are getting these symptoms every now and then, it’s a good idea to keep a diary of everything you eat and drink. Make a note of whenever you get symptoms, then you should find it easier to pin-point which foods are affecting your digestive health.
Aloe vera makes a great digestive aid
Many of the options for improving your digestive health require a certain amount of time for you to start seeing results. The great thing about incorporating Forever Aloe Vera Gel into your diet is that it’s highly absorbent, so it can start working straight away. Forever Aloe Vera GelForever Aloe Berry Nectar and Forever Aloe Peaches all help to support gastrointestinal health. Just a glass a day provides the perfect digestive aid, as well as all the other benefits these gels provide.
We’ve mentioned before that gut health is overall health. Whilst this is definitely true, it’s also true that overall health can contribute to gut health as well. Despite there being plenty of factors that can affect your digestive system, there’s also plenty of ways to keep your gut happy and healthy. And they don’t require too much extra work either!
Have any of our tips for improving your digestion worked for you? Or do you have any of your own tips to help with digestion? Comment below and let us know.

VITAMIN B12 : All You Need To Know

VITAMIN B12

B12 deficiency is a silent epidemic with serious consequences to our health. Of all vitamin deficiencies, vitamin B12 has the

most impact on our other bodily functions.

In fact, reports from the USDA show B12 deficiency may be more widespread than thought, with at least 40% of the population being severely deficient in Vitamin B12.

It is important to note that the body's ability to absorb vitamin B12 gradually decreases with age?

As troubling as it sounds, it can even get worse...

Combine advancing age with certain prescription medications (i.e. for heartburn) and a lack of meat in your diet (especially true for vegetarians or vegans) and you could find yourself sorely lacking vitamin B12.

So how do you know if you’re deficient?

The following symptoms are signals and should be brought to your doctor’s IMMEDIATE attention...

1. Dizziness

Frequent bouts of dizziness or vertigo often signal B12 stores are low. For instance, you may experience a feeling of wobbles when you get up too fast from a sitting position.

You may also feel dangerously dizzy walking up or down stairs.

2. Forgetfulness

Sure, we all get those occasional “brain farts.” However, chronic forgetfulness may indicate a deeper medical issue.

Many patients suffering B12 deficiency often jump to the conclusion they have early memory loss, especially in their senior years.

3. Unexplained Fatigue

Ever had a good night’s sleep followed by a day of yawning and dragging your feet?

If that constant fatigue continues for days and weeks, it may be the result of B12 deficiency.

Researchers from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics found those who felt zapped of energy even though they get plenty of sleep, may still be struggling with low B12 levels.

It’s due to a lack of red blood cell production... one of B12’s responsibilities… meaning oxygen transport to your organs is lacking, causing extreme fatigue.

4. Vision Issues

No, there isn’t something in your eye causing the spotting, blurred and double vision.

Low B12 stores can lead to vision changes and impact the health of your retina if blood vessels in the eye become blocked.

That means you may experience light sensitivity, blurred or double vision, tracers or shadows, which all result from a lack of B12..

Luckily, B12 supplementation can help support your vision quality.

5. Pins and Needles

It’s common to experience pins and needles if you sit cross-legged for far too long.

However, pins and needles (or the feeling of numbness) throughout the body when you haven’t compressed any part of your body, can indicate a B12 issue.

Numbness or the feeling of electric shock waves can be the result of B-12 deficiency. All leading back to poor red blood cell production from a lack of B12.

When you notice persistent health issues like these, you may want to consider a quality B12 supplement.

Unfortunately, most B12 supplements you find on the market suffer from one major flaw...

They’re unabsorbable.

When the vitamins can’t be absorbed, your body is unable to assimilate them and you never get the anticipated nutrition.

So you still end up with the symptoms. Forever Living Product after so many years of research came up with a solution... a highly specialized formula that will deliver the highest quality B12 and folic acid directly to your cells to optimize your health!

Ten Health Benefits of Honey

10 Health Benefits of Honey
Discover the health benefits of one of the oldest sweeteners on earth, plus some interesting trivia, some great recipes and a few cautions.

Bees swallow, digest and regurgitate nectar to make honey; this nectar contains almost 600 compounds.

Honey is a natural good powerfood that should be in your kitchen right now.
“My son, eat thou honey, for it is good” — King Solomon – Proverbs: 24:13

Health Benefits:
1. Prevent cancer and heart disease:
Honey contains flavonoids, antioxidants which help reduce the risk of some cancers and heart disease.

2. Reduce ulcers and other gastrointestinal disorders.
Recent research shows that honey treatment may help disorders such as ulcers and bacterial gastroenteritis.

3. Anti-bacterial, anti-fungal:
“All honey is antibacterial, because the bees add an enzyme that makes hydrogen peroxide,” said Peter Molan, director of the Honey Research Unit at the University of Waikato in New Zealand.

4. Increase athletic performance.
Ancient Olympic athletes would eat honey and dried figs to enhance their performance. This has now been verified with modern studies, showing that it is superior in maintaining glycogen levels and improving recovery time than other sweeteners.

5. Reduce cough and throat irritation:
Honey helps with coughs. In a study of 110 children, a single dose of honey was just as effective as a single dose of dextromethorphan in relieving nocturnal cough and allowing proper sleep.

6. Balance the 5 elements:
Honey has been used in ayurvedic medicine in India for at least 4000 years and is considered to affect all three of the body’s primitive material imbalances positively. It is also said to be useful in improving eyesight, weight loss, curing impotence and premature ejaculation, urinary tract disorders, bronchial asthma, diarrhea, and nausea.
Honey is referred as “Yogavahi” since it has a quality of penetrating the deepest tissues of the body. When honey is used with other herbal preparations, it enhances the medicinal qualities of those preparations and also helps them to reach the deeper tissues.

7. Blood sugar regulation:
Even though honey contains simple sugars, it is NOT the same as white sugar or artificial sweeteners. Its exact combination of fructose and glucose actually helps the body regulate blood sugar levels.

8. Heal wounds and burns:
External application of honey has been shown to be as effective as conventional treatment with silver sulfadiazine. It is speculated that the drying effect of the simple sugars and honey’s antibacterial nature combine to create this effect.

9. Probiotic:
Some varieties of honey possess large amounts of friendly bacteria. This includes up to 6 species of lactobacilli and 4 species of bifidobacteria. This may explain many of the “mysterious therapeutic properties of honey.”

10. Beautiful skin:
Its anti-bacterial qualities are particularly useful for the skin, and, when used with the other ingredients, can also be moisturizing and nourishing!

Wise people are now getting more concern about their health, thus running to nature.

WHY DO PEOPLE SNORE

Why do people snore?

Lynn A. D'Andrea, a sleep specialist at the University of Michigan Medical School, explains. "Snoring is the sound produced by vibrating structures of the upper airway, typically during inhalation. Any membranous part of the airway lacking cartilaginous support, including the tongue, soft palate, uvula, tonsillar pillars and pharyngeal walls, can vibrate".

In other words, snoring is caused by a partially closed upper airway (the nose and throat). Everyone’s neck muscles relax during sleep, but sometimes they relax so much that the upper airway partly closes and becomes too narrow for enough air to travel through to the lung, causing airflow limitation and turbulence. It is this combination of turbulent airflow through the hypotonic airway structures that results in the harsh vibratory noise known as snoring.

Though snoring is not an illness, but it is a symptom. Just as a cough can be a symptom of pneumonia, snoring can be a symptom of obstructive sleep apnea.

Who can snore?

Those who have enlarged tonsils, an enlarged tongue or excess weight around the neck are most prone to snoring. And structural reasons like the shape of one’s nose or jaw can also cause snoring. No matter the reason, 40% of normal adults snore regularly, whether they realize it or not.

Snoring can also occurs in children. Researchers have found that 20 percent of normal children snore occasionally and 7 percent to 10 percent of children snore every night. In many cases, children who snore are perfectly healthy, but about 1 percent of children who snore have obstructive sleep apnea.

Suggested treatment for snoring

Diet is important. It has been found that people who snore are usually overweight. In 20% of men and 30% or more, of women. So, get a diet and lose some weight until you weigh what you should and it is almost guaranteed that this problem will disappear.

Eliminate bad habits such as smoking or taking alcohol before going to bed
Raise the head of your bed so that the body is slightly inclined.

Apply 2 drops of aloe vera extract (aloe activator by Forever Living Products)
into each nasal passage before going to bed to ensure that your nose remains open all through the night

And above all,  before going to bed, gaggle aloe vera gel and swallow the liquid.
Aloe vera gel is a great astringent and antiseptic. It will help tighten and clean up the membrane that vibrate on the upper part of the troat as well as eliminate infection.

25 different Varieties of Melon

For so many years, apart from the melon popularly known as egusi in Nigeria, the only other melon I know is water melon. You can imagine how surprised I was when a dear friend bought this big fruit and said it was called sweet melon. I didn't want to eat it at first (I'm not so good at trying out things), but with a little persuasion, I tasted it and I liked it.

This year, as i started to see it again, i decided to find out more about this sweet melon. Upon research, I then discovered that there were at least twenty-five other melons varieties. Woah!! A whooping 25? Where were they all these while?

Here, I will only list these 25 varieties of melon then in subsequent posts we will talk about their health benefits. But before I proceed, it is worthy of note that the term “melon” diversed in many different plants belong to the family Cucurbitaceae. Containing niacin, vitamin A, B6, C, potassium and their high water content, make it an excellence diuretic. Many species of melons are found, but they belong to four genera: Momordica, Benincasa, Citrulus, and Cucumis. Melons are usually fresh consumed, or used in juice, desserts, fruit salads, or custards. Here are the varieties of melon

1. WATER MELON:
The most common, especially in Nigeria. It is a vine-like, flowering plant with  a thick green skin along with a yellow, red, or orange fleshy center. Watermelon is rich in water content and can grow into maximum around 90 kg.

2. The Sweet Melon:
Also known as cantaloupe are also very common especially in the US. The sweet and juicy flavour of melon makes it the perfect fruit for even the pickiest of palates.

3. The Honeydew Melon:

The honeydew melon, also known as honey melon is mostly used as dessert ingredient. It's round in shape with a pale green, very smooth skin and a sweet and juicy taste.
